Port Blair, June 15: A two days Summer Camp for Divyangjan & their siblings being organized by the Composite Regional Centre- A& N Islands under the Administrative Control of NIEPMD Chennai, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in association with Pankh NGO and Chinmaya Mission got underway today at its premises at Brookshabad. The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS as the chief guest. The Secretary (Social Welfare), Smti Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Director (Social Welfare), A& N Administration, Dr. Nitin Shakya were among others who were present on the occasion.

In his address, the Chief Secretary appreciated the service of CRC for empowering Children with Special Needs (CwSN) in A&N Islands and encouraged the Centre to continue to work for the welfare of CwSN.       The Summer Camp began with a music therapy for Children with Special Needs which was conducted by Dr. Avinash, PGT in Education Department. This was followed by adapted yoga performed by Shri Sera Arasan, Yoga Teacher, Vasumathi Yoga Clinic. The children were also engaged in various arts and crafts activities besides indoor games.

The programme was also attended by Swami Suddhananda, Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair, Smti Komal Anand, President, Pankh NGO Andaman, Shri A.K. Biswas, Nodal Officer Disabilities, Social Welfare Department and members of Pankh Smti Shukla Choudhary and Smti Renuka.

Earlier, Smti Sumithamol, RNO, CRC welcomed the gathering. About 50 CwSN along with their siblings participated in the camp.
