Port Blair, June 20: Mr. M.A Sajid, State President, NSUI, A&N Islands along with a delegation of youths met the Secretary (Education), A&N Administration on Monday and brought his notice towards the PST and GTT posts lying vacant in the Education Department from a long period.

In the meeting, Sajid informed that as per the data revealed from RTI, out of total 717 sanctioned posts for PST and GTT, 198 posts are currently Subjudice in the Supreme Court of India. However, according to the RR published on 11th May 2023, claims and objections were asked to be done before 31st of May 2023 for the remaining 519 vacant posts.

He pointed out the statement given by Secretary (Education) in an interview held on 24th of May 2023 on DD News during which he stated that the notification for PST and GTT posts will be published within a period of 15 days but still the candidates are waiting for his promise.

He stated that quality education is the foundation of a prosperous and progressive society in which dedicated and competent teachers play a vital role for shaping the young minds of our nation.

Concluding the conversation, Sajid urged the Secretary (Education) to intervene in this matter and expedite the recruitment process for vacant 519 PST and GTT posts considering the sake of aspirating candidates in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
