Port Blair, June 22: Shri Girish Arora, General Secretary, Laghu Udyog Bharati, A&N Islands, Managing Committee Member, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI), President, Hoteliers Association of A & N Islands (HAANI) and Past President, Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry has been nominated as member of the recently constituted National Traders’ Welfare Board by Department of Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (internal trade and e-commerce section) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. An order in this regard was issued on 19th June 2023 by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. This nomination has been made in pursuance of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade's Notification No. P-55015/2/2019-Internal Trade dated 26th July and 17th December 2019.

The tenure of all 13 members of the board will be of 2 years and its jurisdiction will cover all states and union territories. Sunil Jivraj Singi from Ahmedabad has been nominated as the Chairman of the Board.

The board would be represented by Joint secretaries of various Ministries of the Central Government including Commerce, Revenue, Financial Services, Housing and Urban Affair, Labour, Electronics and IT, MSME, Agriculture and NITI Aayog. Union Minister Piyush Goyal will monitor the recommendations of the Board.

The first meeting of the National Traders Welfare Board will be held soon. In order to provide relief to the traders from their problems, this board will brainstorm the suggestions of the traders of all the states of the country and send its recommendation to the Government of India.

As a member of the National Traders' Welfare Board, Girish Arora will have an important role to play in promoting the welfare of traders in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and ensuring that their voices are heard at the national level.
