International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as the "World Drug Day" is observed on 26th June every year. This day serves as a reminder that drug abuse and trafficking continue to pose significant threats to the health, well-being, safety, and security of individuals and society as a whole.

This year's theme, "People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention," highlights the complex issue of drug abuse that affects people worldwide. Many individuals who use drugs face stigma and discrimination, which can further harm their physical and mental health, while preventing them from accessing the help they need.

A&N Administration is fully committed to provide accessible, effective treatment and rehabilitation services to those struggling with drug addiction. We are equally committed towards taking a firm stance against drug traffickers and peddlers so that this crime can be curbed. Besides, awareness programmes-cum-workshops are being organized regularly in school, colleges and other institutions to educate the youth about menace and ill effects of drug abuse.

On this occasion, I appeal to the youngsters of this UT to be the torchbearers against drug addiction and make these Islands free from the clutches of drug abuse. Let us renew our commitment to building a society free from drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Together, we can build a healthier, safer, and more resilient future for all by promoting prevention and support to those in need.
