Port Blair, June 25: On the request of the villagers of the area, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee accompanied by other leaders of the party today (25.06.2023) visited Happy Nivas Colony at Ward No.2 of Shippighat Gram Panchayat in South Andaman and met the villagers and heard their grievances of not repairing the village road, non-availability of piped water in their area etc.

About 25 families with a population of more than 100, the area has been completely neglected by the Gram Panchayat and authorities in the Administration. The village road, constructed several years back is in a bad condition, making motoring a nightmare.  Students face hardship to reach the National Highway and the condition of the road will be worst during rainy season. Though the people are staying in the area since 1976, piped water has not been provided to the residents of the area and people depend on unsafe drinking water.  Some of the people have left the area keeping the houses locked and staying in other areas.

The CPI (M) Secretary assured the villagers that their grievances will be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned.  SP Kalairajan and P. Sathyapal, State Organising Committee Members accompanied the Secretary, CPI (M) during the visit.
