Port Blair, June 27: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder has demanded the Administration concerning the issues of the deteriorating condition of rural roads in the villages of Car Nicobar Islands.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Halder said that over the years, the rural roads in the areas are in dire need of repair and maintenance as the residents have suffered from neglect, natural wear and tear and the impact of adverse weather conditions.

He stated that the roads are riddled with potholes, cracks and uneven surfaces, making travel extremely arduous and uncomfortable as the situation poses a considerable risk to the safety of the residents, particularly during the monsoon season when the roads become even more hazardous for the communities.

In addition, the damaged roads also hinder the smooth transportation of goods and agricultural produce, negatively impacting the local economy and hamper the daily lives and access to healthcare and emergency services of the tribal communities living in Car Nicobar Islands.

Considering the above mentioned circumstances, Halder has requested for immediate intervention for the repair and maintenance of rural roads in the villages of Car Nicobar.
