Port Blair, June 30: In a remarkable operation conducted by the South Andaman District Police, the team from the Ograbraj Police Station achieved one of the largest seizures to date, confiscating a staggering 416 kilograms of venison (deer meat). The successful mission was carried out under the leadership of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO of PS Ograbraj, along with the following dedicated officers: HC/523 Emanuel, PC/1401 Rajdhari, PC/1013 Biplob Das, PC/1446 Kamlesh Biswas, PC(D)/3066 Abdul Rahman, and PC/847 P Nizamudeen. The operation was supervised by Arshdeep Singh Panwar, DANIPS, SDPO Bamboo Flat.

Acting on credible intelligence received on June 28, 2023, a raiding team was swiftly assembled to conduct surveillance in the Chouldhari area.

During their operation, they identified a suspicious Omni vehicle with the registration number AN01/E-6106 traveling from Lal Pahar towards Chouldari. The team successfully tracked and intercepted the vehicle, subsequently discovering a total of 416 kilograms of venison upon inspection. The individuals inside the Omni attempted to flee, but the determined police team apprehended them along with the vehicle, which contained nine plastic bags filled with the illicit meat. The three suspects were identified as follows: Shiv Ram, son of Shri. Janak Ram, a private driver (24 years old) residing at Nimbu Bageecha, Chouldari; Raj Singh, son of Shri. Kumar Singh (23 years old), a private worker residing in Port Mout; and Anod Dung Dung, son of Late. Albinus Dung Dung (37 years old), a mason mistry residing in Port Mout. The seized venison, along with the Omni vehicle, was promptly confiscated on the spot, and the individuals were detained. Simultaneously, the relevant information was relayed to the appropriate Forest officials.

All the seized articles, as well as the detained individuals, were handed over to the concerned Forest officials for further necessary action within their jurisdiction.
