Port Blair, June 30: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to form a separate Panchayat Ward for McCarthy Valley Village so that the problem of lack of basic infrastructure is addressed automatically.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that yesterday he had visited the McCarthy Valley Village, located in the Kadamtala region of Middle Andamanand during his visit to McCarthy Valley Village, he had the opportunity to meet with the villagers and understand their hardships and challenges. The villagers have informed him that the lack of basic amenities such as roads, electricity, and clean drinking water has been a persistent issue for the villagers.

He mentioned that the most pressing concern is the absence of a proper road network connecting the village to the rest of the region for which patients and childrens are facing maximum difficulties. The villagers have been enduring these problems since the establishment of the village in 1949.

He pointed out that many villages of North Andaman like Pachim Sagar, Tal Bagan etc had similar problems but after the formation of Panchayat Ward in those villages, many of their day to day problems have been addressed in a systematic manner.

On similar grounds the Member of Parliament requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to form a separate Panchayat Ward for McCarthy Valley Village so that this problem of lack of basic infrastructure is addressed automatically in no time and the entire region is witnessing growth and development.
