Port Blair, July 7: The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) & Police Department will be organizing 1st in the series of 100 awareness programmes at Model Sr. Sec School, Port Blair on 10th July, 2023 at 10 am on ‘Ill effects of Alcohol and Drug Abuse’ to sensitize the children on the peril of addiction and illicit drug trafficking under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare) will be the chief guest on the occasion. The programme will focus on prevention by educating individuals about the risks and consequences of drug abuse by providing accurate information and raising awareness, early intervention through such programmes can also identify individuals at risk and provide necessary support before substance abuse becomes a serious problem. Prevention plays a vital role in addressing drug abuse, and it starts with education and awareness. By equipping individuals, particularly young people, with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, we can empower them to resist the temptations of drugs and lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
