Port Blair, July 10: Shri Vishal Jolly National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI requested to depute Gynecologist & Technician for operating Ultrasound machine at Little Andaman through a letter addressed to Chief Secretary A & N Administration, Secretary (Health) & Director (Health).

In his letter Shri Jolly wrote that the population of Little Andaman Island is around 30,000 and it has only two Primary Health Centre, i.e. one at R. K. Pur and another at Hut Bay. These two PHCs have two Doctors each and merely primary health care facilities are provided therein. Although the PHC Hut Bay has been provided with one Ultrasound machine, but there is no technician to use/utilize the same, due to which the said machine is presently useless, he added.

Further he mentioned that such a large chunk of population doesn’t have any Gynecologist, due to which the pregnant women face several difficulties of serious nature and due to unavailability of a Gynecologist & Ultrasound Technician at Little Andaman, all the pregnant ladies are referred to G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair at 07 months of their pregnancy by the Doctors of PHCs at Little Andaman.

Concluding in his letter he requested to intervene in this issue and depute a Gynecologist at Little Andaman at least for 03 days in a month. Furthermore, an Ultrasound technician may also be deputed permanently, in the larger interest of people of Little Andaman Island.
