Port Blair, July 12: The Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi has invited applications for National Awards to Teachers. All school teachers and Heads of Schools working in recognized Primary/Middle/High/Higher Secondary Schools run by State Govt./UT Administration, local bodies, aided by State Govt./UT Administration, Central Government Schools, Schools run by Ministry of Defence and Eklavya Model Residential schools (EMRS) run by Ministry of Tribal Affairs and school affiliated to CBSE or CISCE are eligible for consideration for the award.

Normally, retired teachers are not eligible for the award but those who have served a part of this calendar year are eligible. Educational Administrators, Inspectors of education, staff of training institutes, Teachers/Headmaster indulged in tuitions, contractual teachers and Shiksha Mitras are not eligible for the said award.

The scheme for National Awards to Teachers has been revised this year. The condition of eligibility of teachers for consideration of awards as 10 years regular service, inclusion of teachers of Private Schools affiliated to State Boards, and revised evaluation matrix are some of the changes made this year.

Registrations for the self-nomination by teachers on the online web portal http://nationalawardstoteachers.education.gov.in is open from 23.06.2023 and last date for the same is 15.07.2023.
