Port Blair, July 12: Along with the nationwide protest, under the strong support of ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker, the City Congress President Shri. Mohd Zubair organized a State Level "Maun Satyagraha" programme on 12th July 2023 to protest against the dismissal of Congress Leader Shri. Rahul Gandhi's appeal to put a stay on his conviction by Gujarat High Court.
In a powerful display of solidarity and peaceful resistance, the Programme started with a foot march from Congress Office and moved towards Gandhi Statue, Port Blair where the Congress leaders were seen covering their mouth with Black clothes as a mark of protest. Later, they proceeded to Tiranga Park where a huge gathering of Congress Leaders comprising the Mahila Congress Committee, Pradesh youth Congress, City Congress Committee, Congress Seva Dal and all other Frontal Organizations, PBMC Councilors, Zilla Parishad Members, PRI Members, Pramukh's and General Public were present.
The Maun Satyagraha highlighted the importance of justice, fairness and the preservation of democratic principles which the Central Government has failed to deliver.
The dismissal of Rahul Gandhi's appeal in Court has raised concerns about the fairness and impartiality of the judicial process. The Maun Satyagraha seeks to draw attention to these concerns and advocate for a fair and legal democratic system in the Nation.
During the Maun Satyagraha programme, Congress leaders wore black armbands and engaged in silent contemplation. They gathered to express their disappointment at the dismissal of Rahul Gandhi's appeal and their determination to uphold the principles of justice, equality and the protection of democratic values.
