Port Blair, July 13: CPI (M) has demanded to make available weighing machine on the spot of LPG delivery so as to enable the intending consumers to weigh the LPG cylinder before taking its delivery. In a letter sent to the Secretary (Civil Supplies), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee stated that reports have been received that weight of re-filled LPG cylinders being supplied by the LPG distributors is less in some of the cases.

Ayyappan stated in the letter that though the consumer is at liberty to weigh the cylinder at the time of taking delivery, but the fact remains that due to non-availability of weighing machine on the spot of LPG delivery the consumers are forced to remain silent. If the weighing machine is made available in the LPG distributing vehicle, the consumers can use it at the time of taking delivery of the cylinders. He further said that such practice is already in vogue in some parts of the country. Ayyappan requested the Administration to issue necessary instructions to all the LPG distributors in the islands in this regard.
