Port Blair, July 17: Shri Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has raised vital issues pertaining to Car Nicobar in a letter addressed to Chief Secretary, A&N Administration.

Vehicle for Clearing of Septic Tank:-

Approximately around 4000 permanent shelters were constructed with bath room. Almost 15 years have passed and all the Septic Tanks are overflowing, especially during monsoon season posing serious health hazards of the community. Requested to permanently provide tank lorry to clean them at regular intervals.

Construction of Kimuos RCC Bridge:-

The RCC Bridge at Kimuos village was completely destroyed during the devastating Tsunami that hit the Islands in 2004. This bridge connects the Island through the circular road. In the year 2006 as a temporary arrangement, a bailey bridge was constructed to ease the movement of the villagers to attend their daily essential works and plantation. Unfortunately the bridge collapsed in the year 2015 due to which many villages got disconnected. Moreover, due to this, the Nicobar Athletic Association could not conduct the inter Men & Women Village Cycle Race competition. Apart from that, the daily routine work also gets hampered and therefore I request your goodself to direct the appropriate authority to raise fresh construction of a RCC Bridge & address this issue on priority basis.

Sea Wall at Mus:-

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi Ji during his visit to Car Nicobar on 30th December 2018 has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 49 Crore for the 1st phase of the project, but sadly the work is yet to commence. Recently this year your goodself while on your visit to Car Nicobar visited the area and discussed this matter with Tribal Leaders. It was decided to call experts from IIT’s to come to Car Nicobar for spot inspection and submit feasibility report of the project, which include the dredging inside the harbour area so that the Ships arriving at Car Nicobar, Mus Port have safe maneuvering and berthing inside the harbor.

Shore Protection of Teetop:-

A retaining wall was constructed under the authority of APWD at Teetop, near fish landing area to protect the road. The wall in some area got damaged due to hitting of waves. During high tide, the main road gets flooded with sea water causing huge inconvenience to commuters and vehicles to pass through. This is the only road connecting far flung village like Sawai, Arong on the circular road.

State Highway Road (Circular Road)-Repair/Maintenance:-

This road is the only road which connects all the 15 villages, without which most activities of the community comes to stand still. This road is damaged at various places and requires urgent repair, widening and resurfacing in the following places;

 (a) Road from Tsunami Memorial to Mus Jetty needs immediate repair and resurfacing.

(b) Road from Tsunami Memorial to Sawai village needs repair and resurfacing.

(c) Road from elsewhere Arong Junction to Head Quarter via Kimuos needs widening, repair and resurfacing.

Posting of Regular SE/EE for APWD & Electricity Department:-

Car Nicobar Island is the District Headquarter, where circle office of the both the aforementioned departments is established. Due to absence of regular Superintendent Engineer and Executive Engineer in this Island, the developmental works, repair, renovation, posting & transfers of officials and staffs gets largely hampered. There is no effective supervision of works in these departments and as such regular Superintendent Engineer and Executive Engineer of both the Department needs to be posted.

Posting of Principal/Head Master, Mistress in all Schools:-

Several Schools are without Heads in Car Nicobar, only Senior Teachers are given the charge to look after the affair of the School. This also hampers the effective administration of imparting education in a proper manner.

Street Light:-

Street Lights on the main road as well as village interior road is something that the villagers of Nicobar District, especially the 15 villages of Car Nicobar is waiting for since long. This is a basic necessity that needs to be addressed & fulfilled.

Construction of Helipad:-

The proposed site of the Civil Helipad at Kakana was surrendered by the Tribal Council of Car Nicobar around 2 to 3 years ago, but still the work has not started yet.
