Port Blair, July 18: Shri Vishal Jolly National Executive Member BJP and Former State President BJP-ANI met Mananiya Jyothiraditya M. Scindia Hon’ble Union Minister for Civil Aviation, GoI at Port Blair and raised important issues pertaining to the Civil Aviation Sector in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands which needs to be addressed for the larger interest of the islanders

1) FLAT RATES FOR STRETCHER PATIENTS:  The absence of any super speciality hospitals in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a significant challenge for the Islanders. When patients need to be referred to mainland hospitals for specialized treatments, they are burdened with hefty stretcher charges. He requested that measures be taken to provide a fixed "flat rate" for stretcher patients, ensuring their convenience and reducing financial burdens.

2) INTRODUCTION OF INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have immense potential for international tourism, export, and fisheries-related activities. He urged to explore the possibility of introducing international flights to the islands at the earliest possible. This would not only boost tourism but also open up opportunities for increased exports and contribute to the growth of the fisheries industry largely.

3) IMPLEMENTATION OF UDAN SCHEME: The UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme has been instrumental in improving regional connectivity across the country. He requested that the UDAN scheme be implemented at the earliest in Shibpur in Diglipur, Car Nicobar, and Campbell Bay. This would enhance air connectivity to these remote areas, promote tourism, and stimulate economic activities for the benefit of the Islanders as well as for the tourists visiting these Islands.

4) AIRSTRIP FOR LITTLE ANDAMAN: Little Andaman is although a part of South Andaman District, but the due to its geographical isolation from the rest of South Andaman region, this island has always remained cut off from speedy all round development. Lack of proper Medical facilities is another big issue in this Island. The residents of Little Andaman would greatly benefit from the establishment of an airstrip under the UDAN scheme. This would provide them with better access to essential services, medical facilities, and economic opportunities. He requested for the considering the construction of an airstrip in Little Andaman in order to operate smaller aircrafts for the benefit of its locals residents.

Addressing these demands and issues will significantly improve air connectivity, healthcare services, tourism, and overall development in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, he added.
