Hut Bay, July 20: On the 2nd day of his 3-day tour to Little Andaman, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee today (20.07.2023) visited the Onge Tikrey Tsunami Permanent Shelter Colonies and met the residents there. About 950 tsunsmi-affected families are staying in these Permanent Shelters which were constructed by CPWD and APWD to accommodate the tsunami displaced families. They are staying in these permanent shelters since 2009.    

During the visit, the residents of the permanent shelters brought to his notice various problems being faced by them like unsuitable road, lack of maintenance of shelters, street light, lack of recreation club and play ground, etc. He assured the residents of the shelters that these issues will be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned for its redressal. 

During the visit, Dr Gouranga Majhi, CPI (M) State Secretariat Member, Anand Rajan, Secretary, CITU State Committee and R. Ranganathan, CPI (M) Hut Bay Branch Secretary and a large number of women and youth of the area accompanied him.
