Port Blair, July 20: On 15.07.2023 the anti-poaching team consisting of SI Dheeraj Kishen, HCs Khokan Ch.Das, Alaxander, Cts Rakesh Chander Rathore, Raj Kamal and PCs Elazier & P.K Mohd. Zunaid was on its way to search for foreign poachers in the mangroves and creek where they were suspected to be hidden. Suddenly, the team noticed some movement in the mangroves and the team got an alert from SI Dheeraj Kishen.

The team split into two and slowly forwarded towards them. One of the team reached very near to 01 poacher who was found hidden in a bush.  The team tried to capture him but the poacher reacting quickly ran away but the team too swiftly chased and apprehended him successfully. Further, the team continued its search for more poachers, after an extensive search in the dense mangroves and in the creeks, no clue of more poachers were found.

One team alongwith 01 apprehended Myanmarese poacher reached OP Kishorinagar on 17.07.2023 from where he was transited to PS Kalighat for initial enquiry. The other team is still in jungle and continuing with search operations to look for more of his accomplice. After conducting enquiry, the Myanmar Poacher was handed over to PS CCS for further investigation. The entire operation was carried out under supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA.

The exemplary bravery shown by the anti-poaching team have been lauded and they will be suitably rewarded.

The general public and fisherman who are venturing in sea is requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to sighting of foreign boats/nationals to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. Their identity will be kept secretly and they will be suitability rewarded for their brave act.
