Port Blair, July 23: The Common Higher Secondary Level Examination for filling up Group ‘C’ vacant posts in various Departments of A&N Administration was conducted on 23.07.2023 across the A&N Islands at 09 Tehsils by the A&N Administration with the help of Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi. In all 21882 candidates had applied online for around 488 vacancies and 18584 candidates appeared in the examination. The overall attendance rate has been encouraging 84.9%

Despite various constraints, Administration had made elaborate arrangements at the examination centres located at the far-flung islands to conduct free, fair and transparent examination. To ensure the integrity and sanctity of the examination, the Administration utilized the services of several IAS, IPS, IFS officers and DANICS officers apart from other officers from the local Administration viz, Education, APWD, Police and Forest Departments. To rule out any possibility of electronic unfair means, the Administration installed jammers at all the examination centres with the assistance of Bharat Electronic Limited.

Further, in order to conduct the examination in a transparent manner, the Administration had installed CCTVs in the control rooms of the designated examination centres in all the 56 centres all over the A&N Islands. Moreover, the transportation of examination materials from the strong room to the designated examination centres had been videographed, besides engaging dedicated videographers at all the designated centres to avoid any malpractice.

The Administration has been conducting the recruitment examinations to fill up all the vacancies under A&N Administration. In order to accommodate the candidates, 56 centres across the islands i.e.44 centres were located in South Andaman District while out of the rest, 08 were located in N&M Andaman District and 04 were located in the Nicobar District.

During the examination, suitable arrangements were made for the eligible specially abled candidates belonging to Visually Handicapped (VH) & Cerebral Palsy (CP) category. The Administration tried its best to accommodate them to the extent possible within the frame work of Rules to allow all the eligible candidates to avail the opportunity.

The Administration is relentlessly trying its best to provide gainful employment to the eligible aspirants of the islands and fill up all vacant posts. In this regard, Administration is also taking various initiatives including establishing infrastructure for online examination in the islands so that, examinations could be held routinely for job aspirants in online mode and there is no delay in filling up the posts in the near future.
