Port Blair, July 25: It has been observed that many vehicle owners approach the Transport Department for exemption of late fine attributed to delay in production of vehicles for annual fitness in the cases of commercial (Transport) vehicles and at the time of Renewal of Registration Certificate (RCR) in case of non-transport vehicles. In this regard, it is brought to the knowledge of all vehicle owners that as per Rule 81 of CMVR, 1989, the amount of late fine of Rs. 50/- per day in the case of Transport class of vehicles and Rs.300/- (for Two Wheeler) & Rs.500/- (for LMV & HMV) per month for Non Transport Class of Vehicles shall be levied after expiry of Certificate of Fitness and Certificate of registration respectively.

The fine amount/late fee for fitness (RCF) and Renewal of Certificate of Registration (RCR) is liable for exemption under Sub Rule (1) of Rule 31 of Andaman & Nicobar Motor Vehicle Rules 2006, subject to the condition that the vehicle owner shall intimate the non-use of vehicle by surrendering the Registration Certificate, Insurance & Permit in original to the Registering Authority in advance.

Hence all the vehicle owners are advised to adhere to the rule provisions and avail the exemption benefit by surrendering the documents with intimation to the Transport Department in case they are unable to produce their vehicles for inspection for fitness on expiry of fitness / registration validity.
