Port Blair, Aug 1: It is a Proud moment for Islanders as two more chess players from A&N islands viz. G Sudha and K Tammaiah achieved the international Chess Rating as per the latest International Rating list published on 31st July 2023 by World Chess Federation (FIDE).
G Sudha who achieved FIDE Rating of 1100, recently participated in the 35th National Women Chess Championship 2023 held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat in July 2023 and performed reasonably well that led her to open the International Rating.
Similarly, K Tammaiah, participated in the 1st Indore International below 1800 Rating Chess Tournament 2023, held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh and won against rated players including a win against chess player from Bangladesh to achieve the International Rating of 1007.
Around 10 chess players from A&N Islands have successfully achieved the International Rating in the last one year which is a blessing sign for the game of chess in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
