Port Blair, Aug 3: The A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) conducted a mainstreaming training programme on HIV/AIDS for the GREF Officers & Personnel on 02.08.2023 at Recreation Room HQ 46 BR(1)TF, Chakkar Goan, Port Blair. A total of 50 personnel participated in the training programme.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Subrata Saha, Project Director, A&N AIDS Control Society.

Shri Girish Kumar, AD (SPM), ANACS conducted the training programme on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and the HIV/AIDS Prevention & Control ACT 2017. The event aimed to educate GREF Officers & Personnel on the importance of preventive measures, early detection and treatment options related to HIV/AIDS and STIs. By empowering the GREF Officers & Personnel staff with knowledge and understanding of Act, the workshop sought to strengthen their ability to respond effectively to potential cases and support the overall well-being of the community. This initiative reflects the commitment to prioritize public health and safeguard the health of all citizens.

Shri Kaushik Kumar Halder, AD (IEC) imparted knowledge about Increase condom use during sex with sexual partner, which is the key to limiting HIV spread through sexual route.

The participants were informed to come forward for ‘Knowing their HIV Status” by voluntarily getting themselves tested which will be kept confidential and ended with question and answer session.
