Port Blair, Aug 4: Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director of Central Ground Water Board, Eastern Region, Kolkata called on the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, today and presented the report on 'National Compilation on Dynamic Ground Water Resources of India-2022'.

The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Smt. Nandini Paliwal, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Smt. Veditha Reddy and the Secretary, APWD, Shri Arjun Sharma were also present on the occasion. The report gives an overview of periodical assessment of Dynamic Ground Water Resources which provides an idea of Annual Ground Water Recharge vis-a-vis Annual Ground Water Extraction of a given assessment unit (mostly Administrative units like Block/District/ State). However, considering unique geography of the Islands, assessment unit adopted for dynamic ground water assessment is based on separate Island for more realistic assessment. A&N Islands has been divided into 37 assessment blocks for this purpose.
