Port Blair, Aug. 7: In the series of 100 awareness programmes on ‘ill effects of alcohol and drug abuse’, the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCAs) & Police Department conducted its 12th awareness programme for the students and teachers of GSSS School Line, RBV Sr. Sec. School, Ummat Public School, Kamraj Sr. Sec. School and V.K.V Port Blair on July 26, 28,  31, Aug 1, 2, & 4, 2023 respectively in which more than 480 students & teacher were sensitized on the topic under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’.

The Resource Persons viz Smt. Ethewari Indewar, Counsellor and Shri. Rohit Paroi, Project Coordinator from Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCAs)’ Swami, Hari Padananda from Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Sub Inspectors Smti Rajani, Shri. Dilla Rao, & Shri. Shivhare and Project Coordinator from Social Welfare Deptt. Shri Gopa Kumar. G enlightened the students and teachers about the misuse and abuse of substances which have devastating effects on individuals, families, and communities. Drug overdoses, alcohol poisoning, organ failure, and accidents resulting from impaired judgment are some of the leading causes of death among people struggling with substance abuse disorders. The A&N Administration is always committed to help the people of this UT on the fight against alcohol and substance abuse.
