Port Blair, Aug. 9: In a stirring display of national pride and unity, the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign by the Port Blair Municipal Council commenced with a solemn pledge taking ceremony today. The event took place in front of the iconic Cellular Jail, a symbol of India's struggle for independence, and witnessed the participation of the Chairperson, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Vice Chairperson, Councillors, officers of PBMC and other people.

The pledge was administered by Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Secretary, PBMC to the assembled crowd to uphold the principles of unity, integrity, and progress for the nation and its people. The pledge underscored the importance of actively contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Nation. As many as 400 individuals from all walks of life came together to affirm their commitment to the Nation.

The program featured a touching rendition of the ‘Desh Bhakti Geet’ performed by the SAT team of PBMC. Addressing the gathering, Secretary PBMC exhorted that the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign is a call to action for every citizen to contribute their part in the growth and development of our beloved Country. As we stand in the shadow of the Cellular Jail, a living testament to the sacrifices endured during India's struggle for freedom, we embark on a journey of commitment and responsibility towards our nation.

He also shared insights about the comprehensive program charted out by the PBMC as part of the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, outlining a series of initiatives that will contribute to the welfare and upliftment of the community.
