Port Blair, Aug 9: The North & Middle Andaman District Police takes immense pride in announcing the commencement of a monumental event that encapsulates the essence of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism—the "SMARAN YATRA" under the banner of “MERI MAATI MERA DESH.” This remarkable rally serves as a poignant tribute to the courageous Veer Shaheed Jawans of India and a solemn occasion to extend heartfelt condolences to the martyrs of the Andaman & Nicobar Police. The inauguration was graced by the Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, today by flagging off “Smaran Yatra Bus” marking a momentous occasion from Baratang.

The Smaran Yatra embarks on an extraordinary week-long journey that spans across geographical landscapes and cultural communities, touching the hearts of thousands as it traverses significant locations such as Kadamtala, Rangat, Billiground, Mayabunder, Kishori Nagar and Diglipur. More than a mere rally, the Smaran Yatra is a pilgrimage of honour, remembrance and inspiration that unites diverse sections of society under the common banner of gratitude and respect.

This monumental event is anchored by a series of impactful and meaningful activities, each designed to commemorate and uplift:

Showcasing Unseen Heroes: The Smaran Yatra casts a spotlight on the often untold stories of valor and selflessness exhibited by the valiant members of the Andaman and Nicobar Police. These dedicated men have risen beyond the call of duty, demonstrating unwavering commitment to maintaining law, order, and security. Through immersive displays, personal narratives, and evocative visuals, we honour these unsung heroes who exemplify the spirit of service.

Honouring Families of Amar Veer Jawans: The sacrifices made by our Amar Veer Jawans ripple through the fabric of their families, leaving a profound impact on their lives. The Smaran Yatra is an opportunity to express our deepest gratitude and solidarity with these families, recognizing their strength, resilience, and unwavering support that stands as a testament to their unwavering patriotism.

Sensitizing Youth about the Importance of Aazadi: In an age where freedom can be taken for granted, the Smaran Yatra seeks to awaken a profound appreciation for the essence of Aazadi (Independence) among the youth. Through interactive sessions, thought-provoking discussions, and engaging activities, we aim to ignite the flames of patriotism, inspiring the younger generation to uphold and cherish the hard-fought liberties that define our nation.

Lectures on Crucial Social Issues: A commitment to community welfare drives the Smaran Yatra to host enlightening sessions on critical subjects, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, Cyber Crime, and Drug Abuse. These sessions empower individuals with knowledge, enabling them to safeguard themselves and contribute to a safer, more vigilant society.

Cultural Expressions and Nukkad Natak: Creativity serves as a powerful medium to convey messages that resonate deeply with the masses. The yatra will feature captivating nukkad natak (street plays) and other cultural expressions, harnessing the transformative power of art to entertain, enlighten, and raise awareness about pressing societal issues.

Remote Village Health Checkup Programme: As an integral part of this holistic initiative, the Smaran Yatra will also organize a health checkup programme for remote villages. Acknowledging the importance of holistic well-being, district police in coordination with the staff of district hospital, medical assistance, screenings, and health awareness campaigns will be provided to ensure the welfare of residents in these underserved areas.

As part of this initiative, dweep prajwalan followed by series of events viz. showcasing unseen heroes of A&N Police, sensitizing the youth about crucial issues of society, nukkad naatak etc. was done at Baratang and Kadamtala. The same line of programme will be conducted throughout the district.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police has invited members from every corner of our diverse community to unite and actively participate in this profound tribute to our national heroes. Together, we shall march forward, not just in commemoration but in a fervent commitment to upholding the ideals of sacrifice, honour, and unity. By forging an unbreakable bond between our dedicated police force and the communities, we aspire to create an environment of harmony, security and mutual respect, said a communication from the A&N Police.

“In the spirit of reverence and unity, let us collectively embrace the legacy of our martyrs and take PANCH PRAN PLEDGE to carry their valor and sacrifices forward, lighting the path of righteousness for generations to come”, the communication added.
