Port Blair, Aug 11: A draft Bird Watching Policy has been prepared by the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A&N Administration as part of the commitment to Sustainable Eco Tourism and Conservation.

The A&N Islands are renowned for the unparalleled biodiversity and are home to a rich variety of avian species. With the growing interest in Bird Watching and Eco Tourism in these Islands, it has become essential to formulate a comprehensive policy that ensures the conversations of these avian treasures while promoting responsible and ethical bird watching activities.

The Bird Watching Policy outlines a framework for promoting Bird Watching as a means of environmental educations, sustainable tourism, scientific research etc. The draft policy is placed in the public domain seeking suggestions/comments/inputs from general public, tourism stakeholders, various Departments etc. The draft policy is available in the official website of Directorate of IP&T https://www.andamantourism.gov.in.  All comments/suggestions/inputs may be submitted to Directorate of IP&T within a period of 30 days starting from Aug. 12 to Sept.12, 2023.
