Port Blair, Aug 13: On the occasion of 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Chinmaya Mission organised a two-day camp specially for the children and the senior citizens where they were taken to various historical places situated in Port Blair. The places included Cellular Jail and Balidan Vedi where plantation was done by the children.

The children were educated about the history of the place and the freedom fighters, Sher Ali Smarak where Lord Mayo was assassinated, Agriculture Farm House and Ferragunj old age home. The camp had children from various private schools and senior citizens who are a part of Chinmaya Mission.

An interactive session was organised at Ferragunj old age home with the senior citizens residing at the home. During the visit to Balidan Vedi, the Deputy Commissioner South Andaman Ms Veditha Reddy was also present.

The camp was led by Swami Shudhanad Ji, President, Chinmaya Mission, Vanprasth Sansthan, Shri Manohar Singh and Founder & President Pankh NGO & Executive Member, Chinmaya Mission Smti Komal Anand. This camp was organised to give tribute to all the freedom fighters and to spread awareness among the people about the history of our country.
