Port Blair, Aug 13: The ‘AICF Chess For Everyone’ All-India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2023 is underway at TSG Grand Dollygunj which will be held for 5 days from 11th to 15th August 2023 over nine rounds.
Two rounds held on day 3 i.e. the fifth and the sixth round. The Fifth Round began at 8.00 am which was inaugurated by Shri. Dhinakaran, owner of Guru Enterprises. He made the first move on the top board to start the fifth round.
Similarly, the sixth round began at 1.00 pm which was inaugurated by Shri. Anup, owner Nautica who made the first move on the top board to officially start the sixth-round games.
Highlights of 6th Round: Pradeep Tiwari of Défense Account Sports Control Board defeated Merryston David Scanny of Tamil Nadu to maintain the sole lead after sixth round with six points out of six rounds. Whereas Meghna CH of Railways and Siddiqui Mohd Imran of Uttar Pradesh have scored 5.5 points out of six rounds and are in joint second position. In another shocker J S Virat, an under 11 boy from A & N islands stuns P Tata Rao, the top seeded of the event in nail biting match.
The seventh-round games will begin at 9.00 am sharp tomorrow.
