Port Blair, Aug 16: The team of Police Station Pahargaon has once again proved its mettle in the ongoing war against Drugs and has booked a person under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 resulting in recovery 120 grams of Illicit Ganja.

On 10/08/2023, credible information was received at PS Pahargaon from Delhivery Courier Office, Garacharma that a suspicious parcel in the name of Ramesh Gosh was received at their Courier Office which is being suspected of containing some illicit ganja.

Acting upon the information, a raiding team comprising of SI. Manish Narayan, PC/930 Jagdish Babu, PC/175 S.S Yadav and PC/715 Santosh Lall was constituted under the supervision of Insp. Mariam, PS Pahargaon. The raiding party rushed to the Courier Office and as the parcel was anonymous and no one had come to claim the suspicious parcel for a long time, the raiding team opened and checked the parcel infront of 02 independent witnesses and recovered 120 grams of illicit ganja from the parcel after following due procedure and registered a case under the provisions of NDPS Act against unknown person.

Due to the sustained and sincere efforts of the police raiding and investigation team of PS Pahargaon, the accused Ashish Tirkey S/o Late P K Tirkey (24yrs), R/o Japan Nallah, Bathubasti was identified and he was arrested within 48 hours. The entire raid took place under the supervision of Shri Sunny Gupta, IPS, SDPO South Andaman
