Port Blair, Aug 17: The 60th National Chess Championship 2023 began on 16th August 2023 in Pune Maharashtra at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.

More than 350 chess players across India are vying for the honour in the championship which is considered as the most prestigious and toughest tournaments in India in which 4 chess players from A & N Islands viz. Yadhava, Rao J, Eswar, Rao N, Ankit Roy and Roshan Senthil Kumar are participating.

The Championship will be held for eleven days from 16.08.2023 to 26.08.2023 and total eleven rounds shall be played in classical mode with 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per move from move no.1. The total prize money of the Championship is Rs.30 Lakhs which will awarded among top ten players.
