Diglipur, Aug 18: The North & Middle Andaman District Police commenced of a monumental event—the "SMARAN YATRA" under the banner of “MERI MAATI MERA DESH.” This remarkable rally serves as a poignant tribute to the courageous Veer Shaheed Jawans of India and a solemn occasion to extend heartfelt condolences to the martyrs of the Andaman and Nicobar Police.

The Smaran Yatra embarks on an extraordinary journey from 09th to 30th August, 2023 that spans across geographical landscapes and cultural communities, touching the hearts of thousands as it traverses significant locations such as Kadamtala, Rangat, Billiground, Mayabunder, Kishori Nagar, and Diglipur. More than a mere rally, the Smaran Yatra is a pilgrimage of honour, remembrance, and inspiration that unites diverse sections of society under the common banner of gratitude and respect.

This monumental event anchored by a series of impactful and meaningful activities, each designed to commemorate and uplift:

Honouring our brave soldiers and Police martyrs, the historic Smaran Yatra bus arrives in Diglipur showcasing their sacrifice. PS Diglipur, led by SDPO Diglipur welcomed the Smaran Yatra bus and a program to felicitate and show gratitude towards familes of martyrs and ex-servicemen. The event was kicked off with a ceremonial lightening “Dweep Prajawalan” by the chief guest Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP(D) N&MA.

As a commitment to community welfare drives the Smaran Yatra to host enlightening sessions on critical subjects, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, Cyber Crime, and Drug Abuse. These sessions empower individuals with knowledge, enabling them to safeguard themselves and contribute to a safer, more vigilant society.

Creativity by school students served as a powerful medium to convey messages that resonate deeply with the masses. The yatra featured captivating nukkad natak (street plays) and other cultural expressions, harnessing the transformative power of art to entertain, enlighten, and raise awareness about pressing societal issues.
