Port Blair, Aug 20: As part of the educational endeavours of the Baha'is throughout the world, which aims at providing  children spiritual as well as academic education and nurturing them as useful and productive resources to enable them to contribute towards the building of a strong nation and a progressive society, the teachers of the Baha'i Classes for Children of Ekta Colony, Machilane, Shadipur had organised a program to mark the completion of Grade-I book of six years course (for the age group of 6 to 12) on 18th August 2023 at Kannada Sangha Hall, Port Blair.

Mrs Mangayarkarasi Tamilselvan, Councillor Ward No 10 graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mr. Tamilselvan, Social Worker was the Guest of Honour.

The program started with the prayers by children. The children presented their skills of memorizing the Holy Writings, devotional dance, songs and stories based on virtues which they have learnt during the course and are expected to practice in their daily life.

Few children and their parents shared their experiences of the transformative influence of these classes.

The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour later gave away the Certificates and gifts to the Grade -I graduates and other children present.

Mrs Mangayarkarasi in her address appreciated the efforts of the Baha'i community in providing spiritual education to the children of the ward and grooming them with the virtues they are endowed with and preparing them as useful and responsible citizens of the nation. She also assured her support in creating awareness among the parents about the importance of these classes.

Mr Tamilselvan in his address highlighted the present challenge of the society due to rising crisis of drug abuse among children and youth and the importance of these classes in creating awareness and helping them to face the challenge and overcome the negative forces affecting their progress and direct their energy towards constructive activities.
