Port Blair, Aug 21: A seminar on 'Andaman Nicobar Islands: Emerging Global Tourist Destination', under series of events commemorating India's G-20 presidency was held in the conference hall of the ZSI here on Aug 18, 2022. Organized by Akashvani, Port Blair, the seminar was attended by the Director, Tourism, Dr. Jatinder Sohal as special invitee. The seminar focused on exploring new avenues in the tourism sector of the Islands wherein prominent stakeholders expressed their views on various dimensions of the tourism. 

Addressing the seminar, the Director Tourism informed that new avenues are being opened up to promote tourism in the Islands. A&N Administration, tourists and stakeholders all are part of a tourism ecosystem and the Administration is taking necessary steps to unleash the potential of tourism sector. Policies are being made to develop caravan tourism, bird watching, house boat, night kayaking etc., the Tourism Director added. He further informed that the draft of Bird Watching and Caravan Tourism Policies are now in public domain for comments and efforts are being made for promoting these Isles as global tourist destination in which the newly inaugurated Terminal Building of VSI Airport will play a pivotal role.

President, Ship Owners Association, Shri Mohd. H Jadwet, President, Hoteliers Association, Shri Girish Arora, President, ACCI, Shri Surendra Prahladka, and Dr. P Abdul Salam, Asstt. Prof., Deptt. of BBA Tourism, JNRM also presented their views in the seminar.
