Port Blair, Aug 23: The State President, National Students Union of India, Shri. M.A Sajid on Wednesday raised his strong objection over the plan of A&N Administration to establish the office of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Deemed University inside the campus of JNRM College

In a letter addressed to the Secretary (Education), Sajid said, “Through reliable sources we came to know that the A&N Administration is setting up a plan to utilize the new building of JNRM College for making office of the proposed Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Deemed University. We strongly oppose this kind of idea which will be a reason for hampering the educational facility of students studying in JNRM College”.

He added that the new building of JNRM College was made considering the lack of rooms in the college for establishing new departments. This building was made after several protests from the student unions demanding introduction of new courses in JNRM. Now, giving this new building for the purpose of office use of the proposed Deemed University will be a grave injustice meted out against the students of JNRM.

Further he mentioned that the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands are already unhappy with the establishment of the Deemed University. Now taking away the facility of the students of JNRM College for this Deemed University will lead to outrage among the student community.

Hence, considering the interest of JNRM students, Sajid requested the Secretary (Education) to not utilize the new building of JNRM College for the office related works of the proposed Deemed University and betray the students of JNRM. He further cautioned that if any positive action is not taken on this matter, then NSUI shall undergo a mass strike.
