Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Cyber Cell, Port Blair, in a significant breakthrough, has successfully apprehended the accused, Mr. Rahul, for his involvement in a cybercrime case involving the creation of a fake Instagram account and posting obscene content using the complainant's picture.

The investigation, which began after a formal complaint was filed by the victim, that an unknown person had created a fraudulent Instagram account in the complainant's name and posted offensive content, causing significant distress and harm to the complainant's reputation. Such acts of Cyberbullying and identity theft are not only illegal but also have severe emotional and psychological consequences for the victims.

The investigating officer Inspector Ranga Raj, I/c Cyber Cell, Port Blair, and his team left no stone unturned in tracing and apprehending the accused, Rahul, who was attempting to hide his digital footprints. Through advanced cyber forensic techniques and rigorous investigation, they were able to track down and arrest him. The offender has been sent to judicial custody and will face charges under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and other applicable laws. "Cybercrimes have been on the rise in recent years, and the A&N Police is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our digital space. We take these crimes seriously and will continue to investigate and prosecute individuals who engage in such malicious activities", said the Cyber Crime Cell in a release.

It is essential to take precautions to protect your digital identity and report any cybercrimes to law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe and secure digital environment.
