Port Blair, Sept. 4: To express gratitude to visiting tourists and to show that Andaman & Nicobar Islands values and cherishes tourists, the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has proposed for Free Entry in all Tourist places for tourists and Islanders on World Tourism Day on 27th September 2023.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, the Member of Parliament pointed out that Tourism is not merely a sector here; it's the lifeline for thousands of Islands. It stands as one of the most substantial industries in the Islands, providing employment opportunities to thousands of our youths and generating significant revenue for the government.

In light of the immense contributions of the tourism industry and to express gratitude to the myriad of tourists who choose our Islands as their travel destination, the Member of Parliament suggested that on the occasion of World Tourism Day, Andaman & Nicobar Administration should declare entry to all tourist attractions viz. the Cellular Jail, Light and Sound show, Fisheries Museum, Samudrika, Anthropological Museum, Chatham Museum, entry to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island , entirely free of cost for all visitors, including tourists and Islanders, on 27th September 2023.

He added that such a gesture would send a resonating message across the nation and world that Andaman and Nicobar Islands values and cherishes tourists. “By offering this token of appreciation, we would be setting a precedent of hospitality and gratitude, reinforcing the islands as a preferred destination for travellers,” he added.

The Member of Parliament also mentioned that many Islanders have not visited all tourist places of these Islands, hence this World Tourism Day will be a great opportunity for them to visit these Tourist Spots.
