Port Blair, Sept. 6: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India to release Rs. 50 crores fund from AMRUT scheme for A & N Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister, the Member of Parliament highlighted the issue of allocation of funds under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for the development of infrastructure in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

He mentioned that under the AMRUT scheme funds are made available for states and UTs for the development of crucial infrastructure in various sectors, including water supply, sewerage and septage management, stormwater drainage, non-motorized urban transport, and the creation of green spaces and parks. These projects are of paramount importance for the overall improvement of the living conditions and urban environment in our region.

The MP requested the Minister to release atleast Rs. 50 crores for Andaman & Nicobar Islands from AMRUT scheme for various development projects that are essential for the well-being and quality of life of Islanders. He mentioned that timely disbursement of funds is crucial to ensure that we can initiate and complete the much-needed development works in a timely manner.
