Port Blair, Sept. 6: A Selection trial for the 52nd National under 19 Chess Championship 2023 & 37th National under 19 Girls Chess Championship2023 was conducted by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association at ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm, today (06.09.2023).

Around 50 chess players participated in the Selection trials with great enthusiasm in which the following chess players have been selected as per the final standings of the Selection Trials to represent A & N Islands in the upcoming 52nd National under 19 Chess Championship 2023 & 37th National under 19 Girls Chess Championship2023 scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 20th September to 28th September 2023.

Final Standings   

Girls: R Kashthuri Bhai – First, Sriya Raj – Second, B Kavya – Third, J Keerthana – Fourth, Chaitna S - Standby

Boys: Ronnie Ronaldo Y – First, Dinesh Kumar SM – Second, Dinakar M A – Third, S P M Tarun – Fourth, Rohan Singh - Standby

These selected players are hereby informed to submit their consent letter of participation latest by 7th September, 6.00 pm through whatsapp @9434293379 or at ANCA Office, Dairy Farm, failing which the next player in the Final Standings will be considered for participation.

Meanwhile, Shrihaan Karmakar, a class IV student of KV2 from Port Blair has made the islanders proud by achieving international Chess Rating as per the latest International Rating list published by World Chess Federation (FIDE). He recently participated in the AICF Chess For Everyone’ All India FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament that held in Port Blair from 11.08.2023 to 15.08.2023 and performed brilliantly which led him to achieve the International Rating.
