Port Blair, Sept. 6: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India to release of atleast Rs. 100 crores from the Central Road Fund for Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Central Road Fund, is earmarked for road construction and maintenance, and the fund remains available with the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways for all States and UTs.

He added that the current condition of Village and PBMC roads in Andaman & Nicobar Islands is deplorable, and in many places, they are in urgent need of repair and maintenance. Unfortunately, due to the shortage of funds the necessary road construction and repair work cannot be initiated in many places, he added.

The Member of Parliament emphasized the critical importance of this fund release, as it directly impacts the safety, convenience, and overall quality of life for the residents of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Adequate road infrastructure is essential for the smooth functioning of our region and for the welfare of our citizens.

In light of the urgency of this matter, he requested the Hon’ble Minister of Road, Transport and Highways to release atleast Rs.100 crores from the Central Road Fund for Andaman & Nicobar Islands. “This will enable us to expedite the much-needed road construction and repair projects for the betterment of our Islands,” he added.
