Port Blair, Oct. 19: A sensitisation-cum-awareness camp was conducted for the Andamanese PVTGs community on ‘Ill effects of Alcohol and Tobacco’ today. Dr. Anand Lingeswaran, MD (Psychiatry), Associate Professor & Head, Department of Psychiatry, ANIIMS through a powerpoint presentation explained in detail about the detrimental effects of different obnoxious items, consumption and its bad effects on the personal, social and community life. He reiterated that there is an urgent need for awareness among the community for a better and healthier life.

The camp also featured an interactive discussion and Q&A sessions to gain insights into the steps that one can take to lead a substance-free life.

22 Members of the Andamanese community residing in Port Blair attended the camp. Similar Camp is scheduled to be organised at Strait Island shortly.
