Port Blair, March 12: As part of SVEEP activity in the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024, a Signature Campaign on the theme ‘Wall of Democracy’ was organized in the A&N Secretariat premises here today. The objective of organizing the Signature Campaign was to promote informed and ethical voting and to inculcate responsible democratic awareness amongst the staff as well as general public. The Chief Electoral Officer, ANIPC, Shri B.S. Jaglan, IAS as the chief guest, inaugurated the Signature Campaign in the Secretariat premises.

Addressing the participants, the CEO said, we should take a pledge today that we will ‘Vote for Sure’ and also create awareness among the people to participate in the democratic process. He stated that ‘Matdata Parv’ is the festival of our Country and we should celebrate it enthusiastically with maximum participation in the General Election-2024 by voting on the poll day without fail. He urged the staff of the Secretariat to vote on the polling day and also motivate the eligible voters in their family to participate in the Electoral Process by voting, keeping aside all their works on the polling day. 

Good number of officials and staff of Secretariat participated in the Signature Campaign putting their signature in order to show their commitment towards the nation and readiness to vote for sure.

Shri Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS, Nodal Officer for SVEEP welcomed the chief guest and others present on the occasion. He, informed the gathering about the SVEEP activities underway as part of the ensuing General Election-2024 to create maximum awareness among the people to participate in the electoral process.

EVM demonstration was also organized to familiarize voters with EVM.    With polling date nearing, the Election Department has intensified the awareness programmes under SVEEP to engage the residents through various activities and hands-on-experience to make them aware on their electoral rights and familiarize them with the electoral process of registration and voting.
