Kamorta, March 17: On 14/03/2024, Shri. Devesh Chandra Shrivastva, IPS, Director General of Police A&N Police along with other senior officials; Shri Ajay Krishan Sharma, IPS, DIGP\ Headquarters, Ms. Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP Law & Order, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District and Shri Sandeep Lamba, DANIPS, DySP Fire embarked on a three days comprehensive field tour (March 14-16, 2024) of various Police Stations, Police Radio Stations, Fire Stations, Marine Police Operations Centre (Nancowrie) and LOP Tillangchong across the Nancowry group of islands in Nicobar District. They also visited Indian Navy (IN) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Stations and interacted with the officers and staff for better liaison and co-ordination.

The tour commenced with visit to Katchal on 14/03/24, wherein the delegation inspected police infrastructure i.e. Police Station, Police Radio Station and Fire Station and engaged in Sampark Sabha with the staff to address their concerns. The valuable feedback/suggestions were received and directions were issued to improve the basic infrastructure of the police at PS Katchal in a time bound manner.

On 15/03/24, the inspection was conducted at PS Nancowrie, wherein the directions were issued by the DGP to utilize the infrastructure of the MPOC, Nancowrie, more effectively. The inspection culminated with a Sampark Sabha wherein the grievances/suggestions of the staff were addressed to boost their morale and motivate them to work whole heartedly for the public service.

Thereafter, the visit to LOP Tillangchong was made with the help of Indian Coast Guard ship, wherein the DGP appreciated the various works being undertaken and completed by the troops. A Sampark Sabha was held to address the concerns of the staff. A volleyball match was played with the troops and the visit culminated with lunch.

Additionally, the DGP visited Pillpillow village of Nancowrie Island, where a state-of-the-art Police Radio Repeater Station was inaugurated, enhancing communication capabilities and ensuring seamless wireless connectivity in remote areas across the Nancowry group of islands.

In the final leg of the visit, DGP inspected PS Teressa as well as the Fire station there and it was directed to utilize the building of the fire station in a comprehensive manner so that the accommodation concerns of the staff can be addressed effectively. It was underlined to utilize the resources of all the units of the police in a comprehensive manner for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness. At all the places, the team of senior officers met the Captains and respectables to understand public grievances.

The visit underscored the unwavering dedication of the A&N Police force to uphold safety and security, reaffirming their commitment to serve and protect the community. The emphasis was also laid on full proof poll preparations and to ensure conduct of Lok Sabha Elections in free, fair and peaceful manner.
