Port Blair, March 21: A three (3) days training programme (March 19 to 21 March,2024) on "First Aid Fire Fighting & Disaster Preparedness" concluded successfully at the Fire Service Training Centre, Fire & Emergency Service (HQ). Altogether 152 individuals actively participated in the training sessions. The programme aimed to sensitize teachers, hoteliers, government servants, and the general public about fire safety and disaster preparedness measures.

Shri. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS Superintendent of Police (Fire and Emergency Services), emphasized the importance of fire safety awareness among participants. He urged them to disseminate the knowledge acquired during the training programme and to take proactive fire safety precautions. Additionally, participants were encouraged to cooperate with fire service personnel during emergency incidents and support firefighters in their endeavors.

Throughout the training sessions, participants were acquainted with various activities of the Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services, including the functions of the Fire Control Room and operational techniques of essential equipment such as Water Tender, Rescue Tender, and Disaster Management tools like Search & Rescue equipment, Chain Saw, Concrete Cutter, Air Lifting Bag, and Combi Tools.

A live demonstration on firefighting utilizing various fire extinguishers and the operation of the branch display and delivery hose was conducted on the concluding day at the Fire & Emergency Service (HQ). Participants actively engaged in these demonstrations, gaining practical insights into fire safety measures.

At the valediction program, course certificates were distributed to all participants, acknowledging their successful completion of the training programme. The participants expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services in capacity building and applauded the initiative to empower stakeholders to respond effectively in case of fire emergencies.
