Ograbraj, March 26: On 25th March 2024, a dedicated team comprising SI K V Abdul Salam, HCs Ashok Roy and Nelson embarked on a mission to dismantle the manufacturing of premature illicit liquor (Lehan) and apprehend the perpetrators in the Port Mout revenue forest area.

During a meticulous search in the revenue forest area behind Port Mout Basti, the team stumbled upon evidence of illegal activity in the form of hand-sawn padauk timber. The discovery prompted the team to conduct a thorough investigation to determine ownership and legality. Despite exhaustive efforts, no individuals or evidence indicating legality were found.

During the operation, 02 pieces of length 24 x 15 cm x 160 cm measuring 0.0576 cbm and 01 piece of 15 x 12 cm x 160 cm measuring 0.0288 cbm, total 03 pieces measuring 0.1440 cbm of hand sawn padauk timber were recovered.

The illegally obtained hand-sawn padauk timber was promptly seized on the spot under the cover of a seizure memo. Subsequently, the information was conveyed to the concerned Forest Official, who assured their commitment to take over the seized articles from the spot.

The seized articles were handed over to Shri Anoop Singh, Forester, Ograbraj Beat, Tushnabad Range on the same day at 21:30 hrs for necessary action at their end.
