Port Blair, April 4: As part of the General Election-2024, a voter awareness programme was organized by the SVEEP team at ANCOL here today under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activity. Shri Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS, Nodal Officer for SVEEP informed that SVEEP is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.  He encouraged eligible voters to exercise their franchise in a big way during the forthcoming General Election-2024 to celebrate the right to vote. He motivated them to participate in the election process keeping aside their daily household tasks and vote for a healthy democracy on the Polling Day i.e. April 19, 2024, the day on which ANIPC going to polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha Election-2024.

During the programme, good number of students, some of them being the ‘First time Voter’ were encouraged to exercise their franchise in a big way during the forthcoming election-2024 to celebrate the right to vote. Students were motivated to participate in the election process upholding the slogan/message ‘I will Vote for Sure’. Students’ were apprised about the importance of voting for a healthy democracy and were urged to exercise their franchise on the Polling Day i.e. April 19, 2024.

Shri Amar Kumar Singh through a Power Point Presentation covered topics such as 1950, cVigil, MCC, first time voters, details of voters.eci.gov.in, electoral search.eci.gov.in , YUVA (Youth Unite for Voter Awareness) , Voter Helpline App. He also requested the students to check their name in Voter List / Electoral Roll.
