Port Blair, April 12: In view of the ongoing General Election-2024, the Election Commission of India has conducted a Video Conference with Central Observers today to review the poll preparedness and other necessary activities. The Observers play a very important role in conducting free and fair election.  

The Observers are the Senior Government Officers deployed by the Commission at the Assembly/Parliamentary level with the purpose to maintain the level playing fields during the election. The Observers are eyes and ears of the Commission. Accordingly, Observers have to submit many reports to the Commission on a regular basis.

The General Observer, Shri Brajesh Narain Singh, IAS, Police Observer, Shri Ravi Joseph Lokku, IPS, Expenditure Observer, Shri Satyajit Mandal, IRS(IT), Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Shri B.S Jaglan, IAS, State Police Nodal Officer, Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS attended the video conference at Mini Conference Hall, Secretariat.
