Port Blair, April 17: It is crucial to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process and to ensure the peaceful conclusion of campaigning and smooth transition to the voting phase, South Andaman District Police conducted night checking in the entire district of South Andaman to ensure the MCC is being followed and no violation is being done of the same.

On 17/04/2024 from 1800 hrs after termination of all campaign activities during the general election 2024, a team of Police officials under the supervision of Smti Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP(L&O) alongwith Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP(D)SA , Ms Shewta K Sugathan, IPS, SP(PMF), Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO (SA), Shri Sandeep Lamba, DANIPS, DySP(DHQ) and Shri Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, SDPO(Bambooflat) conducted patrolling in South Andaman and Bambooflat Sub Division to ensure the observance of “silence period”.

The primary objective of this intensive patrolling initiative is to maintain law and order, prevent any untoward incidents and safeguard the democratic rights of every citizen.

Further, we urge all members of the public to uphold the principles of democracy and respect the electoral guidelines. Stringent legal action will be taken on misconduct or violations of the model code of conduct.

The general public is requested to share information pertaining to anti-social activities violating free & fair election to Police at 100, 112, 1077, 03192-238881. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
