Port Blair, April 24: As part of ‘Prakriti Shantiniketan-the nature classroom programme’, an awareness camp was organized yesterday by the Wildlife Division Port Blair, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in which, 30 School students and Teachers from Govt. Secondary School, Delanipur participated. Set amidst the serene backdrop of Nature Park and Interpretation Centre, Haddo, this immersive camp offered participants a unique opportunity to engage in educational workshop and guided nature walk led by experienced staff. The nature awareness camp was aimed at educating, inspiring and empowering students to foster a sense of community and shared responsibility by means of field visit, classroom session, drawing competition and quiz competition.

The main attraction of the camp included visit to different sections of Nature Park and Interpretation Centre, Haddo followed by engaging session on a variety of topics including endemic birds, coral reef ecosystem of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and snakes to gain insights into the importance of biodiversity, conservation efforts and sustainable living practices.

Engaging activities such as drawing and quiz competition were also organized on the topic wildlife ecosystem respectively to ignite participants’ passion for natural world fostering a deeper appreciation for environment by equipping individuals with practical knowledge and skills, the camp empowers them to become advocates for environmental conservation within their communities.

Prizes were awarded to the winners and Certificate of Appreciation were awarded to the participants. The winners for the drawing competition were Abdul Wahad, Baby Mondal, Julina and Tuhina Khatun and for the quiz competition, the winners were S. Kumar, Bathina Kumar, Baby Mondal and Santosh. They secured the 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions along with consolation prizes in the respective competition.
