Port Blair, April 26: World Creativity and Innovation Day was celebrated today at IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair. The program was inaugurated by Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Director, Zoological Survey of India, Port Blair.

The Director in his inaugural address expressed that young innovators should come forward with novel ideas.  The program was presided by Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob, Regional Director, Port Blair. Dr Sudarshan Raja Assistant Regional Director welcomed the audience.

Young island-innovators of IGNOU Mr. Dipankar Das who had a patent and Hon’ble President of India’s prestigious award winner and Dr Mukta Jagdish having 25 patents were felicitated by the IGNOU Regional Centre.

Mr Dipankar Das in his address to the audience emphasized the need of start-ups and innovations. The Innovation Centre was also inaugurated at IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair. New and novel products of young innovators of IGNOU were also displayed. Learners, and faculty from various disciplines and alumni of IGNOU and the staff RC Port Blair attended the function. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Uday Kumar, Assistant Regional Director.
