Mayabunder, May 1: On 29th April 2024, the staff of PS Mayabunder successfully carried out a search operation in the Karmatang area, resulting in the recovery of illegal timber.

Under the direction of Inspector P.K Abdul Arif, SHO of PS Mayabunder, Police Constables Dilleshwar Rao and Sailen Pandey conducted the operation in Karmatang, Mayabunder, following intelligence inputs regarding illegal timber storage. During the operation, they recovered 48 pieces of Padauk timber and 26 pieces of Pema timber, measuring a total of 0.923 cubic meters.

The timber was found in the possession of Anand Kujur, 56 years old, R/o Karmatang-10, Mayabunder. The recovered timber was taken into custody by the forest officials who accompanied the search operation. The N&MA Police is committed to combating illegal logging and protecting the natural resources of the region.

Cooperation between the police and the public is crucial not only in maintaining law and order but also in preserving the environment. Both the N&MA District Police and forest officials remain vigilant in their ongoing efforts to combat wildlife crime and ensure the preservation of biodiversity in the region.
